The DGrD is now a married lady - whew. It was a lovely ceremony, the little church was packed. Maid of honor carried the 1 yr old down the aisle and handed off to her DGrM. The 5yr old DGrD scattered her flowers in great deliberation - 2 on this side, 2 on that side. DGrS was handsome in full dress uniform as a groomsman. And the bride was lovely, especially considering her DF was stepped on her train as the were getting into position to march and almost pulled the dress apart! The church social room was set up for the reception. They had a tier of lovely cupcakes trimmed with frosting leaves in fall colors, topped by a single layer of chocolate cake for them to cut. Thank goodness they didn't go for the cake smashing routine. After some toasts and socializing it was back to altar for picture taking. As there was another 1.5 hours until food at the bar, DH and I took out of town guests back to our house to relax. DBIL is getting on in years and needed to rest a little. BTW,I never got my outfit sewn and wound up wearing a flowered slip dress with attached jacket - very lightweight and perfect for the weather.

The "bar food" was set out when we arrived (minus dress pumps). I now know that bar food means anything that can be cooked in a deep fryer - LOL. We had a section to ourselves, but other people were at the bar. Eventually the local college football game was put on the TV, so most of moved to their fenced in patio area. It was great - the grownups moved around and visited, the kids ran around catching bugs, etc. Very relaxed. DS lasted until end of the meal in his tux, then changed to jeans and a shirt. Folks under 18 had to leave at 9 PM when a live cover band (Eagles, Tom Petty, etc.) started playing and we had the floor to ourselves. Lots of dancing with DH and just silly fun. Of course, DS had a running bar tab for immediate family, so we did our share. I didn't know Jello shots came in so many flavors - had to try one of each. We left around 11, dropped the visitors at their hotel, then came home and crashed. This morning was breakfast out before they headed home. After some shopping at Target for favorite coffee (and stuff we really had been wanting now on sale), we've been loafing watching a 007 Bond movie on the big screen for the first time.

Now I can exhale. All the dresses held together, but I had needle and thread in the car just in case.

Hi Jacquie--what a great day you all had. I bet your DGRD will cherish that dress and all the memories you made for her! Now kick back and have some down time--you have earned it girl :-)
Hugs,
Carol
