Good lab report

I had my annual checkup a few weeks ago, with routine lab work done. Nothing major, but my blood sugar and blood fats numbers were up last fall. MD wanted to start me on statins a while back, but I told him I thought the reports would be better this time. Sure enough, everything was! MD put in a note that he still recommends small dose of statins for all patients over 50. DH says whooey! He takes massive doses of them for his genetic problem (1 heart attack at 40, 2 stents at 65), and still doesn't get such good numbers.
I've gotten rid of a lot of stress by retiring and the DH/DS feud being settled. I've also pretty much eliminated high fructose corn syrup and hydrogenated fats from my diet. We've also switch to less processed foods - found even turkey bacon had too syrup and you got to wonder what part of the turkey is smashed up, colored, flavored, and pressed into bacon shape. DH is delighted that we once again eat real bacon, just in moderation. I've become a constant label reader. Also added the supplement red yeast rice for blood fats, turmeric for system wide inflammation, plus the 5HTP for well-being. Along with our multi-vitamin, we both take extra VitC and calcium/magnesium supplement.
All that is left is the dreaded mammo and easy bone density test next week. Hopefully I can cruise for a while before some body part starts miss behaving.

i think we all have tried the turkey bacon..i myself dont like it. i buy the center cut bacon,once in a blue moon. moderation is what i preached but dh never listened..until he heard it from the doc.@@ @@ those are eyerolls!! i think that doctors do push pills alot,good for you for getting your numbers down.taking processed foods out of your diet will surely work on getting those numbers lower.i just had three of the five food groups for supper...lets see ice cream for calcium...strawberry topping for my fruit...and popcorn for my fiber..LOLOL oh well..tomorrow is another day to worry about good eating..hugs min
cal me too..im sick of healthy eating..tonite i had some chips dip and spreading cheese..an apple to clean the palette! LOL...min
