I just heard it on tv.  The nasty "S" word.  Yes, it's true.  They're predicting six inches of snow in the mountains near Vegas.  Can ours be far behind?  I don't think I'm ready for it.  Does anyone in the lower tier of states have a room they'd like to rent out for a couple of months?  LOL.  Yesterday I went shopping at Kohl's with dd-Cheryl.  It seems that dgs-Tim has already outgrown his school pants.  He doesn't have a single pair that reaches down to his shoes.  Anyway, when we were in Kohl's I noticed that they have their complete Christmas section all set up, decorated trees, etc.  It's too early.  It use to be that we'd see it after Thanksgiving and then, more recently, it was after Halloween.  Now it's the beginning of October.  I wonder if the time will come that they never bother removing it.

We seldom see snow before late Dec. in mid-Illinois, but it the cold wind will blow in from the Plains. I'm already planning a trip to New Orleans at the end of Feb., because I know I will need a warm weather fix badly. But, come August, I'll be wanting to head to Norther MI.

I hear you about the holiday sales. Our local Farm & Fleet store has a tradition of stocking a huge toy dept, keeping it roped off and secluded until ready to open. Well, today is the day! Based on past years, there will be nothing left on those shelves by early December. Then they will put out the Spring stuff. I'm so glad I don't shop for toys anymore...

I must admit that not being required to go out on those icy days this winter is delightful. My plan is to make any appointments in the afternoon when things warm up. We actually have more ice than snow most winters. Moisture will come in just above freezing, then be a mess in the morning. DH insists on going out to scrape off the ice, though most days the sun on our sidewalk melts it by noon. I've fallen on the black ice enough to keep away from it. When I was retired in January I found that 2 PM in the afternoon was a good time to get in a walk if the sun was out. I could bundle up enough to actually enjoy it. Right now the pollen and mold from the spores has forced me to shut up the house again and I hate it. But, we were both waking up with stuffy heads.
