Got My Report Yesterday

I finally received my report today from my colonoscopy.  It seems that they did find one polyp and they said that there was no evidence of cancer.  However, it was composed of precancerous tissue and I will have to have a follow-up colonoscopy in five years.  And, here I thought I'd be able to wait ten years before having to go through that again.

BTW, does anyone know what it means to have precancerous tissue?

Kaci did they remove that polyp while they were in there? I know that sometimes they do?

I do not know exactly what pre-cancerous means.

Congrats on getting that necessary, yet unpleasant test out of the way, Kaci.

i think it means that conditions exist in the tissues where cancer can form. my fil had the same thing and he had to go every 6 months. hope that helps kaci. glad that exam is over for you. hugs min

You're right in that it probably would be good for me to call them just to have my questions answered.

Hi Kaci--I am so happy that you had that colonoscopy because I am pretty sure that if the polyp had been left in there it would have turned to cancer. Five years is pretty good--my husband had a polyp removed it wasn't precancerous but they want him to repeat in three years. I had 5 polyps removed, none were precancerous and I don't have to go back for 10 years even though my mother had colon cancer. You might try looking it up on webmd for more info but talking to your dr. would really be best and thank heaven we have these diagnostic tests that help us live longer and healthier.
Hugs,
Carol
