Had A Good Day

Funny how you can start the day thinking it's going to be a normal hum drum day and it turns out to be something special.
I decided yesterday morning that it would be a good day to take a ride (about 40 miles away) to visit with my aunt. She's alone and doesn't drive any more and often can use someone to drive her around for all the little errands that one has to get done. I found that her sisters will be coming down today, so they will be helping her with many of the errands but she did want to go grocery shopping to get something to make when the sisters get there. So, we went out for lunch and then to the store and then spent the rest of our time together just visiting.
On the way home I decided to see if I could stop by my brother's house, which is only a bit out of the way, since I haven't seen him/them for months. When I got near, I called and found that my sis-i-l was at home and told me to come on over. We talked for a while and then took a ride so he could show me the area where all of the windmills are going up. Amazing! Thirty-six of those huge units all in different stages of erection. We ended up with a drive through the old neighborhood with him tellin me who was where these days and me showing him who use to live in what house, etc. We stopped to see where an old friend of his is building a log house on an old foundation of what use to be the neighborhood bar. It's in the rural area and the property is right on the river and nobody could build there but it was allowed if the old foundation was used. The place burned down some time ago and the mess had just been sitting there. This old neighborhood friend, who lives in Arizona now, bought the property, cleaned up the mess, and is now building a really nice log home on the foundation to be used as a summer home. It happened that they were there when we stopped and I got to talk to him and his brother, whom I haven't seen since I was a kid. I met his wife too, and had a tour of the place and had some enjoyable conversation.
I'm just amazed at how nice a day it turned out to be. And, today we (my kids & I) will be going to a birthday party for one of my nephews on my late dh's side of the family. This nephew acquired the old home place (on the home farm) and completely gutted it and remodeled it. He's throwing himself a birthday party/housewarming party so that everyone can come and see what the place now looks like as we're all very interested. So, it'll be another day of family fun. He even plans to have hay rides weather permitting and the weather is suppose to be great. I know we're going to have another great day.
Sorry to get so long but I guess I get wordy when I'm in a good mood.
Take care,

Enjoy!

Hi Kaci, it sounds like a great day. Are you having this sensational weather too? It's glorious here.
I've been innsitting a lot and getting ready for the Innsitters' Conference at the end of the month. Lots of work!
When will you get to IL next?
Dh is retired!!! So far we haven't gotten on each others' nerves. Of course, we're both busy so that helps. We went downtown to a musical matinee this past week - so nice to be able to do that.
