Dear Ladies:
I am so feed up with the prices at grocery stores and the mistakes they make. It is unbelievable. Yesterday, I went shopping at our local QFC (Kroger). Now, I know the QFC is a little bit more expensive, but I was buying for Thanksgiving and my Holiday baking. Somethings you just can not skimp on, so I knew it was going to be a good size bill.
First, I got charged $3.49 a pound for apples. Apples! I could not believe it when I sat in my vehicle and checked my receipt. Over $9.50 for a bag of apples. Now, DH loves apples and eats 1 or 2 a day, but I will not pay more than $1.99 a pound. I just won't. It does not matter to him what variety of apple, as long as he has his apples and I buy good Washington grown apples.
Second, I brought a natural Butterball turkey for Thanksgiving. It is listed in the sales flyer as half off. Did I got the half off price, no. I had to go back into the store and explain the problem to two different people, so I could get a refund. I got back over $21.00. That is quite a bit as far as I am concerned, plus the registers are computerized. These errors should not occur.
So that is my gripe with grocery stores. My community only has two stores, otherwise I must drive 22 miles to Wally World or Safeway. We have a large group of retired people in this area, I know that many could not afford a $21.00 mistake. Plus, these new register tapes are hard to read. Some people would not catch the mistake.
So Thank you for letting me vent. I was pretty disgusted with QFC. The people are nice, but they hurry a lot of the time.

$21 is a big error
good thing you caught it!!
very frustrating..there are so many things we have to be aware of, be on guard!
but then again...sometimes the errors are in our favor!!

Good for you, Lou...for finding the error!
Dutch:
I agree with your totally.
Cal:
My DH does not know one type of apple from another and I am very glad.
I agree, if I catch it I usually tell them...unless, as it has happened, I am already home and it is a small thing
if it would be a bigger hassle and inconvenience to all, then I just let it go
I figure it all evens out in the end
but like you, I just try to be the best I can
Dutch
I don't blame
Well I get good and tired of having to check every single purchase for errors, but I do.
I shop at the local Kroger, and I must say, they do a good job.
