we re in a full blown snow storm here. after listening for days to those weathermen, who hype everything up,we finally got hit. nothing here is plowed and the city and surrounding counties are virtually closed down. i dont think too many people will be going to work today. today was my grandsons xmas concert too, schools are closed as well. its an early start to xmas vacation. so how are things in your area, from the looks of this storm it has passed thru many states, leaving ice or snow or both. here we have all snow of which im thankful for,we still have ice from the last system that went thru. i can personally say that i do believe el nino has left the building. LOL...and as gw would say..bring on the snowwwwwwww...it really is pretty, isnt it..there is nothing like mother nature to put on an earthly extravaganza. so im sitting here drinking coffee, typing and looking out the window at the falling, make that blowing snow. hope you are all safe today...hugs mindy
merry christmas!! ho ho ho!!

We got off easier than predicted. Thursday eve was an ice storm, everything pretty much shut down, but the power and cable stayed on. Now temps are going up to high 30s rapidly, so there is frost on the ice, and dense fog. I'm looking out my window at a lot of tree branches down up the street. Cable was off for a while, schools are closed so poor kids miss their parties. I remember being a room mother and dreading the holiday party. Kids who had been sick all week at home, would drag themselves into school that day and spread germs everywhere. Need to get on the treadmill shortly.

YAY!
(Waving back to Santa)
Hi there Mindy, and we just had the snow start about an hour ago and it's snowing pretty good out there right now.
From what I hear, we got a full 12 inches at home.
Single digit temps are predicted in mid-IL for next 2 days, so I made a quick run to get more Hershey's kisses to make Peanut Blossom cookies. Grocery store lot was packed, a lot of people are either gearing up for holiday meals, or getting ready to hunker down. I went down the road to the drug store instead and was in and out quickly. Got to my car to find very fine snow like ice crystals coming down. Trip home was slippery, my ABS brakes started chattering and scared the heck out of me. I forget about that feature, because I usually avoid driving in slippery weather. But they worked and I didn't slide through the stop sign.
Glad to be inside now, may stay here until Christmas Day. We had planned on driving 60 miles to dance tonight, but will pass. I'm going to put a peach pie in the oven shortly so we have something healthy to snack on. The peaches are from DSs tree and I sweetened the filling with natural Stevia instead of sugar. Now that this product is FDA approved, I hope more people switch to it instead of the substitutes which are made from chemicals. Our stores now have it on the shelf under Truvia brand in little packets.
I'm off to have lunch and watch the Muppet Christmas Carol. DH has customers and doesn't care for the movie, so I'll just enjoy myself. Love Michael Caine as Scrooge.
