we re in a full blown snow storm here. after listening for days to those weathermen, who hype everything up,we finally got hit. nothing here is plowed and the city and surrounding counties are virtually closed down. i dont think too many people will be going to work today. today was my grandsons xmas concert too, schools are closed as well. its an early start to xmas vacation. so how are things in your area, from the looks of this storm it has passed thru many states, leaving ice or snow or both. here we have all snow of which im thankful for,we still have ice from the last system that went thru. i can personally say that i do believe el nino has left the building. LOL...and as gw would say..bring on the snowwwwwwww...it really is pretty, isnt it..there is nothing like mother nature to put on an earthly extravaganza. so im sitting here drinking coffee, typing and looking out the window at the falling, make that blowing snow. hope you are all safe today...hugs mindy

If the power goes out here, I may disappear for a while. We have had freezing rain coming down for the last 3 hours. Temp is 32, so it freezes as soon as it hits. DH made a quick run and bought the last 3 bags of ice melt we need for our composite deck (can't use real salt). He said our drive was the worst place of all, just solid ice. He had to get out in the street and make a running start to get up the incline. I had him pick up a roast on sale while he was at the store so we can at least cook it on the gas stove for Christmas dinner of we get stuck in w/o power. The retailers say the stores are empty, but not closing early yet. I feel sorry for those people who will have to scrape 1" of ice off their windshields before they head home. Wonder if they know the trick of hitting the ice with a corner of scraper to break it before trying to scrape.

I worked in the admitting office of a hospital years ago when we had another bad storm. The hospital had it's own power if needed, so they opened a wing and offered employees beds, free food and toiletries if they'd stay over, because so many couldn't make it in. Because most of the personnel staying over were women, it was like a big dorm party, visiting from room to room. Great fun in the face of dire circumstances.
