I finally ventured out to the big sales, made it as far as Penneys. The main purpose was to buy a clothing gift for DGrD who turns 8 on Sunday - found a cute top. Then I detoured to women's dept and found Gloria Vanderbilt jeans on sale. I like them because they sit at waist, not below. If I wear the low riders, I have a definite "muffin top" look - LOL. The jeans were the dark unwashed blue, more dressy than what I have, plus short enough - no hemming needed. I took the plunge and bought a size too small with the intention of wearing them to New Orleans in early March. So, I'm starting my New Year's resolution early - more exercise, less food. I'm hanging them on my hobby/exercise room and will try them on regularly to track my progress. Also picked up some long sleeve knit tops with cowl neckline. I've been wearing last years office tops around the house and they are getting stained and faded. Once we get past sweater weather, I'll need something lighter to wear on tutoring days. Sure didn't need another one, but picked up a purse with mixed colors to perk up my winter wardrobe. The main feature was it had outside pockets with zippers to hold my keys, phone and big sunglass case. I should wear blinders when I go into a department store for 1 item - LOL.

Biggest surprise was the book store where I needed to get a gift certificate for the birthday girl (she's a big reader). The parking lot was packed - haven't had to circle a lot in ages. Guess the people who got gift cards were cashing them in before the next snow sets in. I should get to the library on Weds to stock up on reading material. I like to borrow the older gardening magazines this time of year and look for ideas. Makes Spring seem a little closer...

I went shopping for a bit before DH got here & know there are more treasures awaiting me at some of the little shops I haven't been able to get into yet.
