I better mention this now~~~~~

I know I mentioned that we gave up dial up (finally) and went with DSL because they offered us the world besides pestering us on phone and mailings every day about the advantages of changing to DSL and all their wonderful offers to start off, and boy, can they really lay it on.  Well, everything that they promised us as a "free" beginning, and we paid for other stuff, they ended up sending us a bill for almost $300--that's for the free stuff.  So, DH gets on the phone and they never give you a confirmation # and he's talked to about 20 different people, has received 20 different answers, and each person told him something else that they had "forgotten" to mention.

He asked for a supervisor on every phone call starting 2 weeks ago, never got one.  Until he got "Mr. Brown" who claimed he was a supervisor and he said they close at 5 p.m. and he hung up on DH.  Well, DH calls the next day, gets another man and also reports Mr. Brown.  Each telephone call got longer and longer because he was relating all that he went through, and finally yesterday he told the person on the other end to take the DSL and stuff it.  Wh--aa-aa--aa--t, the "Nice" man on the other end said.  DH said you heard me, and he said he would have to send us a box to send the Modem back, and DH said the sooner the better.

Well, we gave up AOL, so here we are without anything yet, and expect that we will lose AOL as we don't have DSL to get online with.  So, he called Comcast, going for FIOS (wonder what horror stories this will bring us), and we have to have a cable guy come in Wednesday between 11 and 2 p.m. (storm expected also) and he will connect us up, and supposedly we'll see how that works.

DH keeps apologizing to me.  I am the reason we have stayed on dial up so long.  I told him he would have nothing but problems, and boy, did he find out that the phone companies can do their share of lying, plus the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing.  Comcast just has to be better (hoping, hoping).

Well, what I am getting at in a round about way is that if I disappear it's because of getting connected or reconnected and if things don't work out, I'll be like Kaci (Kaci--deep withdrawel) and without a computer.  Just wanted to mention it just in case------------

A good day to everybody, hugs.

Grr - doesn't that make you wonder if everyone else gets the same shabby treatment, or if they figure out we're older and try to pull a fast one.

If it helps any, we have had Comcast DSL for quite a while and have been very happy. The only time it went out was when the local transmission lines were hit by ice, and that was only for a few hours. We bundled it with the basic cable tier, as we get HD off the roof antenna. BTW - when we called and asked for the cable rate, no one mentioned a senior discount. As they have a local sales office, we stopped over and asked. Sure enough, our monthly bill ($53 for both services) is discounted. Our GrD's new DH works for them and thinks it's a good company. They have installation truck 7 days/week. When ours was installed, a lot of wire needed to be run through the basement to the upstairs. Normal installation is figured at an hour, the guy stayed here for 3 hours until 5:30 - after his normal quitting time.

Bea, I have my connection through the local cable company (Charter Communications) and have been pretty satisfied with them.
