I Have A New Computer

Yippee!  I'm back on line.  dd & ds determined that the power unit on mine went out and in so doing, it fried the motherboard.  To replace both would have cost more than a whole new computer, so I got a new one.  Now dd is going to try to see if she can salvage any of my data from the old one.  There are a few things on it that I didn't have backed up and she thinks she might be able to do it at home or else, there is something she has at work (Hewlett Packard) that she thinks might do the trick.  I hope so anyway.  At least, I'm happy that I now have access again.

You must be in hog heaven - like my DH is. His new(refurbished) HP laptop arrived on Sat and he is busily loading everything and testing it out. It works like a champ. I even convinced him to download free Open Office suite instead of buying Microsoft Office.

The laptop will be so handy for me to sit in front of the shelves and make a database of the hundreds of movies on DVD which we now have. We've begun buying ones we already have because our copy is out of order on the shelf - LOL. Our brains are too tired to remember what we own anymore, we'll let the computer do it for us.

welcome back kaci!! glad you got yourself back on line, that is really great that the kids help you out like that. the younger generation sure seem to know what their doing when it comes to a computer. when mine crashed my son sat down here and had it going in a couple of hours. if it were up to rich and myself,we would have had to take it in to get it fixed. enjoy!! hugs mindy

It was a tough decision as to whether to get a laptop or not. I decided against it. I really like the big old computer sitting on my desk with a real mouse. I wouldn't mind a laptop as a second one, but I don't think that's ever going to happen.

Usually dd-Sue is able to get everything back working for me but this time she said the parts would be too expensive and it would have taken her some time to get it all done. So, I opted for just getting a new one. I went to Best Buy and it wasn't really too expensive since I didn't need anything fancy and didn't need a new monitor or printer. I'm a happy camper.
