Drink your water

I should drink more water, but admit I get bored with plain water and stop after 1/2 a glass. Now I've found the perfect solution. I found the True Lime powder packets at my local store - on shelf with sweeteners. I guess they don't want to put it with the juices or people might stop buying the stuff filled with high fructose corn syrup. One packet in a glass of ice water is so refreshing. No sweeteners, but you could add some. I like it plain. I also added it to plain yogurt, along with Stevia sweetener and it was Key Lime Pie in a cup.

I haven't heard of True Lime, but use sugar-free, 0 calorie Crystal Lite, which has several flavors.
The lime powder is helping me wean off artificial sweeteners. Like most sweeteners, the stevia products in packets are expensive. I buy it in big jar for use at home, keep a salt shaker filled for coffee & tea, then spoon out for other uses. The jars seemed terribly expensive at first, compared to Splenda Pour, but it lasts us as long as 3 bags of Pour. I now make a big batch of dry pudding mix sweetened with stevia. Homemade pudding with cornstarch and no preservatives tastes much more like the pudding I remember as a kid. Last week I made tapioca pudding with stevia and it was great. DH & I use pudding as a way to satisfy our creamy/sweet tooth cravings. Of course, I broke the rule yesterday and baked a store bought frozen cherry pie. No sense saving them till warm weather, because then I never want to turn on the oven - LOL. I stocked up on the frozen Sara Lee pies during the holidays - they were 1.97, so I couldn't go wrong.
I used to ask for a wedge of lemon or lime with my H2O in a restaurant, until I saw an expose of how dirty the wedges were. They sit around in uncovered bowls and servers use unwashed hands to grab pieces for customers. Ugh. Now I take my own powder. I want to try the lime as a rub for chicken next.

If we spent any time in the kitchens of our favorite restaurants I suspect we'd think twice about eating there!
BTW - when you shop for big container of Stevia, avoid the one that has extra fiber added. Sounds like a good idea, but it lumps up in hot drinks/food.
No calorie pie?? My DSis and I have the motto that we "never met a pie we didn't like". We've been known to go out to eat for an excuse to sample pies. We each get a different one, then split. On one trip we each ordered 2 slices! Too many flavors to pass up. And they were homemade daily. I have made a pie filling with stevia and tapioca and it was very good, but the crust was the killer. I saw a TV show with a recipe for crust made with cooked brown rice pressed into a pan, not sure if there was any shortening used. I have no objection to just having a top crust, so pour the filling in the pie pan, add a pre-made crust from the store and bake. Still tastes pretty darn good.

I really like pie, too, Jacquie.
Well, that is one thing I do....don't go anywhere without my water..for me...the colder the better
my biggest problem is if I put a glass of water and ice on the end table next to me..the cat comes and drinks!
then I have to get a new glass! LOL
