I certainly could identify with Kaci's frustration!  Turning 70 last year hit me hard even though it's "just a number".  This house needs a major change if we're to stay in it...no bathroom on the first floor.  There's one in the basement, another on the 2nd. floor, but that means steps either way & it's getting more difficult to get there in time:-(   Arrrgh!

Love this board!  Who else could understand the way we feel & our different personalities make it so interesting.  BTW, has anyone heard from our Australian friend lately?

Wishing you all a pleasant day!  I'm off to do a little cleaning.   Hugs, Cal

DH turns 70 this Oct, I don't hit it until June 2010. Every time I comment about something being harder to do he says "hey, we're o-l-d". He drives the down the street complaining about the "old geezer" in front of him, etc. I remember when we first moved here our neighbors were all in their early 70s and I thought they were ancient - LOL. Based on family history, I figure to get in another 10-15 yrs, so need to work hard to keep the body moving.

Well, Cal, Kaci, Jacquie and everybody else--as of right now I consider age only a matter of the mind.

I think you are right in that some of my problems are from being alone and not about age. There are things around here that I'd never be able to do. I am lucky in that ds#2 is so willing to come over and do things for me. I guess that's why I hesitate to ask him. I sometimes ask the other kids to give him a break. I don't think my kids see me as the day they moved out. Each of them seem to understand that I just don't have some capabilities.

Regarding age, I think it would be interesting to know the age of each of us, but I don't know if some may be sensitive of their age. I turned 64 ten days ago.

I know what you mean about having everything on the first level of the house. That's why I did the little remodel last year. I don't have a problem taking the stairs but since I am still working and have that income, I figured it would be a good time to get my laundry area on the main floor. I don't have a two story house, so I don't have to worry about bedrooms being upstairs or anything like that.

Bea you are an incredible lady!! So happy that you are recovering so well from your surgery. I had an email from my DSIL re a friend of ours who just turned 85 and was celebrating with her kids at a casino in Iowa and is taking a 14 day trip to Egypt next month! So--you are correct--age is only a number! But some days it feels like my number is up! LOL
Have a great weekend,

This is the first year that Im going to feel my age...I will be 70 in Feb..I guess I worry more about Earl turning 81 in March..thats one reason we moved to a moile home..easier upkeep..we also put in a ramp for me as steps sometimes are hard..of course its hard getting Earl to hire someone to move the snow for us..stubborn guy feels like he should do it..men get more stuborn as they get older..lol lol

Hugs to all...
