I'm talking about the 58 yr old pilot who landed the jet in the River today. He mustered every big of experience he's ever had to pull it off.

I've been reading a book of op-ed pieces, one of which was about how smaller airlines handled the bad weather problems last year. One airline was started and run by 30 somethings. When the things got bad, then had no idea what to do. Left people stranded on planes for up to 10 hours. One of their biggest problem is that they had no backup plan to get crew to planes if the traffic turned ugly. At one point the weather let up,but they couldn't take off because they had no crew! The other airline was started and run by older and more experienced personnel. They faced the same problems last year, but knew what to do to avoid the problems - been there, done that kind of thing.

Age and experience wins out every time.

I also applaud this pilot for the wonderful way he landed and that the people were safe.
