What a morning

The plan was to drive 80 miles to take my sewing machine for as tuneup at 9 AM. The last thing I said to DH on Thurs was to stay off the computer in the morning so he could get the recycle set out and car windows scraped before 7:30. Of course, he paid no attention. When it was time to go, we were both out there for 20 minutes in -15 temp scraping (we don't have a garage). All the while, my boots were in a foot of snow. Finally get going and I think the car just isn't warming up. DH is sure it is. 20 miles from home, still no heat, I want to turn back. Nope - it will heat up he says. 30 miles from home his feet are hurting from the cold, so we turn back. Some men can be so darned stubborn.
At home, I call the local shop that does our upkeep and they said to drop my car off late AM. By then, we were both bone chilled, so I insisted DH bring up the oil heated radiator for the living room and we hunkered down under covers to watch a movie. Eventually got the car fixed - it was low on coolant! Now, when I was working, DH always took care of checking the fluids. I guess I'm supposed to do that now, but he forgot to tell me - GRRR. Only good part is the service guy said that should have been checked when I had my car in for an oil change on Tues, so there was no charge. The car is now toasty warm.
I rescheduled the appt. for next Fri afternoon. Maybe we can get our act together for an afternoon trip - LOL. In the meantime, that heater is definitely staying upstairs. It can be wheeled to other rooms, just plugs into the wall. We originally bought it for the basement, but he never uses - too much of a tightwad. Not me, I'm sick of being cold.
