I think I posted that DGrS was married quietly over his holiday leave. DS has now given me all the details. They got hitched and bought her a minivan on the same day, he headed back to base the next day. She packed up her 2 kids, moved to his base in GA and is already enrolled in Jr college classes there - I think she is 1 semester away from an Associates Degree. DGrS has a whole new plan for his future. He is schedule to be discharged in mid Feb. He didn't want to continue in infantry unit, but liked the medic work he did on the fly in Iraq, so didn't want to stay in. Since then, he has learned that he can leave his unit, immediately re-enlist in the unit that is strictly operating room personnel and receive a hefty bonus. Later in the Spring he will go to TX for several months of training, then apply for work in one of the Army hospitals. DS told me that DGrS was very worried about coming home with no transferable skills and facing a tight job market here. Of course he gets a pay increase with the new dependents and that will help them all. The new bride has been living with her parents since divorce from abusive husband, so that she could go to school full time. We're impressed that he's willing to take on a new family at 23 and thinking so much about his future. Buying a mini-van as the kids first car made us laugh. Life goes on, the saga continues.
