will have the TV on most of the day. It's emotional to watch people express their feelings about this historical event. Obama's expected to do so much...it's not going to happen over night, but hopefully, we'll see changes soon.
We didn't leave the house yesterday. The roads are still slippery. I made chicken noodle soup from scratch & we just relaxed in front of the TV much of the day.
Today laundry will take up quite a bit of time. And then there's the kitchen floor that is over-due for a scrubbing. I need a cleaning lady...this house is too much for me. Well, if I don't get off the computer I'll never accomplish what I want even though I've been up since 5:33 a.m. Remember, I'm not a morning person & need a couple of hours to wake-up:-) Happy day to all! Cal

I hear you Cal.
Not a morning person either. One of the best parts of retirement has been the luxury of easing into the world. I'm usually up by 7, but need my alone time with my 2 cups of tea that start brewing at 6:30. One of my AM irritations has been stopped by DH getting the new laptop and doing his email on that. His desktop PC runs AVG update at 8 AM and that would be his time to come up and start blabbing to me while I was watching an early show. He complained about the disruption, but never reschedule the update - probably because I kept suggesting this. Now he's working away on the mail and I get some peace. I always felt lucky that I had my own office, could grab a cup of coffee and get up to speed at my own pace.
I will stay home to watch the inauguration proceedings on Tues. I'm pageantry and tradition junky. I have a yellowed newspaper from when Queen Elizabeth was coronated.
As I reminded DH, the world we knew has surely changed. When we grew up, it was was run by older WASP men in business and older WASP women as teachers/librarians/nurses. My DGrM would tell me about living in a railroad centered town in Indiana in the 20s. The workers were mixed race and families lived side by side with no issues. Later she moved to Chicago and was shocked by the racism. No tutoring on Tues as the classroom teacher has reserved a TV for the big event. I'll stay home an watch it in HD on the new TV.
Another single digit day here, so I'll warm up on the treadmill shortly, do some yoga stretches and work on the upholstery project this afternoon.
Wish I could make a decent traditional chicken soup. I put onions/carrots/celery in, but it always tastes sweet to me. Wonder which one I should leave out? My favorite is diced chicken breast, low sodium broth, a big can of Oriental veggies and brown rice. Must put those veggies on Tues shopping list. Also need to get some frozen breasts. As a rule, I don't like them because they are injected with sodium and seem mushy after defrosting. But, for soups & casseroles they are fine.

I agree about the paper around the house, getting & keeping bills. Lordy, it does accumulate, but you remind me of someone who
My DGrM's family lived in the same type of town & my DGrF worked on the railroad.
