Why do men sit in the dark

Can any of you ladies tell why "men sit in a dark room".  Most of the time DH gets up before me.  (I require more sleep).  When I come downstairs none of the shads are open and he is sitting in his recliner watching TV in a darken room.  He also does not turn on any lights.  IS THIS A GUY THING?  It drive me nuts.  When I ask him why he doesn't open the shades or turn on a light.  He replies:  I didn't notice.  His father would do the same thing.  Plus, his father would lay on the couch all day watching TV.  His poor Mom was stuck in the kitchen listening to her little radio.  Do you think this is a family habit.

Don 't let me get started on using the doorknobs to hang up his coats.

I believe it some ancient "cave" throwback. I can do you one better. My DH has a basement business. In his work area, he has plenty of light for painting and repair. The other area is for PC work. It has a single bare lightbulb on the rafter. I will get up (also after him), look downstairs and there he sits on his chair in front of the PC with the one light on, like some poor little waif. Just like a cave with a torch on the wall. If he gets up really early and finishes his email, he will come upstairs and also sit in the dark living room to watch TV. I go in and start opening blinds and he can't figure out why. I think the cave women spent more time outdoors - cooking, washing skins, chasing kids - LOL.

Lou I love to sit in the dark, when Pam was small she use to come in and lay her head on my lap and she would say listen to the quite and peace. We would sit for hours in the dark and I still love it. Vern comes in and turns lights on over my stove and I tell him I don't need it and he says might burn yourself yeah right. I have to remember to pull shades up.

I am kinda of a loner at times and the dark is where I am alone. So don't be to hard on him, its peaceful. hugs

Now doorknobs that pisses me off LOL just use hangers not the door knobs.
