It's Still Here

Yes, the cold is still here. Right now it's -2º. I'm dog sitting for ds & d-i-l and am having trouble getting the dog to go out. He takes one step off the porch, turns around and goes back to the door and sits down waiting for me to open it. He hasn't done anything outside since yesterday morning. I keep searching the house to see if he's doing it somewhere inside but I don't find anything. How long can a dog hold it?

My weekend is an at home one. I'm just working around the house and doing some relaxing. I haven't even done any walking. I had planned to try to get out to use my snowshoes but it's been to cold. I just can't handle this cold. Next Sunday will be the start of February, maybe it will start to warm up. I always think of January as the warmest one. I have changed my little Christmas tree to a Valentine's tree. I went to Steins last week and found some highly discounted green ornaments and some shamrock lights, so that after Valentines Day I can change it to a St. Patrick's tree. After that I'll have to see what I can do to it for Easter, which is about a month later. After that I don't know, maybe red, white, and blue for Memorial Day and I guess I could leave that for Independence Day. We'll see how much ambition I end up with this year.

Hope you all are having a good weekend.

Take care,

The snow and cold has returned to mid-IL. The kitchen table is covered with the chair reupholstering project, so the plan was to go out to Steak & Shake for breakfast today. Not. The snow was coming down heavily when I got up and no sign of stopping. I decided to cook breakfast and we could watch one our of TV shows we recorded on Thurs. in the living room. I tried baked French toast and baked bacon for the first time. Verdict was the bacon was great, but DH didn't like the way the bottom of the toast was like one big crispy crust. I thought it was great and no grease on the stove for me to clean later. He's out shoveling now, even though I suggested he wait until the snow stops. Some men...

I saw on tv that Illinois is getting more snow. I wonder how far north it is and if ds & family are getting it too. Here we have a very sunny day even though it's still only 1º. At least it's above zero, though I don't know what the diff is between -1 & +1. Enjoy your day at home. Hope you don't get too much snow.

I'm here to tell you that I know for certain that some dogs can wait for a week without urinating.

I'm glad to know that it is rather common. When they came home they took him out and he went right away. They called me later and told me that he also did a #2 three times after they got him home. I'm very happy that he's ok as I was kind of concerned.
