Yes, we ventured out of our warm house and just had to go shopping and check out the other place, and all was well there plus I got my notice that I am now exempt from jury duty due to age. Of course, I expect to get a summons here at home because they have called us for jury duty in the past in both places, but we legally are exempt from serving at both places but have to always notify them of that.
Anyway, we have one of those mail boxes out on the street and I hate those darn things, all the mail was soaked. We usually don't get mail like that at the lake but somehow or other a few things seem to be mailed to there. How did the jury duty was sent there to begin with because wondering what they use to get a list--do you think it's the census?
And, we stopped off at the first market, potatoes were $4.99 for 5 lbs. so we finally decided not to get them. Did go to another store and got them for $4.99 for 10 lbs. and the size of them were better for baking--the first store had potatoes so small that I just didn't want to bother with them. And they weren't the red ones either. Food has really gone up in leaps and bounds around here, as I'm sure it has everywhere--We ended up spending a little over $100 just for the two of us, grant you, some of the stuff is not on a weekly basis, but this was not buying one piece of meat or fish OR any fresh fruits. Did get a few veggies, thank goodness, guess I'll have to learn to nibble on carrot sticks! Broccoli and cauliflower have doubled in price, I refused to buy the head of cauliflower for $3.99 as DH doesn't like it anyway, even though I love it I always end up eating it by myself.
This cold spell better break soon, I think this cabin fever is getting to me. We were going out for breakfast this morning but decided it was just too cold to go out, and we are going visiting tonight anyway so that will be enough out for the day. Until then, I will do a few odd things, and have just cleaned out my spice rack. Already did more than I expected, so time to try to read and write.
Everybody have a good day, hugs.

Nice to get out after being cooped up, isn't it?
We've been stocking up on the frozen vegetable sales and making cream of vegetable soup. On of the best finds was frozen stir-fry 3 color sweet peppers. They have a little seasoning and I can toss a them directly into a dish, and freeze the rest. At the price of fresh green peppers, I hate taking the chance they will spoil before I finish the other 1/2. I have whole green peppers from the garden in the freezer, but save them for stuffing. I make the stuffing with turkey Italian sausage and brown rice - could it for days. So much of the fresh stuff in Midwest isn't very good this time of year. Except for carrots, onions, potatoes, celery, I seldom buy it. The fresh broccoli here was limp - phooey on that. I'm hoping my new seed sprouter will keep me supplied with raw crunchies for sandwiches and salads.
