With the cable company, that is. Our channels were suddenly not available. After 3 days, I called them today. I must do this, because DH's aids have great difficulty with foreign dialects at most support centers - this one was no different. The upshot is that our lower tier is no longer available and we would be forced to upgrade at a $50/mo increase. No way - the next 55 channels have nothing we are interested in! His response was that we had received notice in our bills. To be honest, I receive the bill online and as long as the amount is the same, I never open the file and read it all. As we have good antenna reception, I said we'd discontinue TV and keep the internet service. No, no - can't do it as it is a "bundled" product. Blah, blah, blah. On top of all this, the jerk tried to sell me phone service! We don't like putting all our eggs in one basket, so would never do this and I told him so. What would we do when they decided to change THAT bundle in the future?? I told him we'd start shopping around for another ISP and he said we could drop off the cable box at the local center. Got off the phone, explained all this to DH. He was furious, wanted to call the cable commission. I got to thinking and asked DH how come we get all the channels in my hobby room and the living room? Why can't we hook up the living room TV the same way and bypass the box? He wants to keep the box as an option because there are free movies we can still get. Being the technical mind he is, he quickly figured out how to bypass the box and give us what we need. He needs to shop for a switch box, but it is on his list of things to do. In the interim, we will be shopping around for another ISP - there are several locally.
Been too busy with all of this to get dressed - better get to that before lunchtime rolls around.
