How I got a new dishwasher

Hi Ladies:
I have a new dishwasher. The old one leaked, so after checking out the cause of the leak, DH decided a new dishwasher was in order. So off to the local Dent store we went. Found a real nice unit. DH even brought all new hoses and attachments. So last Friday, DH installed my new dishwasher.
Now back to the beginning. I found the kitchen flooded three weeks ago. I came downstairs about 3AM for a glass of milk and the kitchen floor was wet. It looked like the front of the dishwasher was leaking. That is when DH decided that a new dishwasher was in order. Had to disconnect the old unit and pull it out to dry the kitchen floor. DID I TELL YOU THE KITCHEN IS LAMINATE FLOORING. So I also got a new floor.
When DH was removing the hoses for the old dishwasher last Friday, he found that two hoses had been eaten though. Yep eaten. See in December when we had so much snow, DH put up two bird feeders on the back patio. I told him to put them out on the garden fencing, but his answer was: I want to watch the birds eat. Well they ate alright. They also made a big mess on the concrete patio. Bird seed all over the place. The snow came and went, Christmas came and went, as did New Years. DH finally cleaned the BIRD SEED mess around the 10th of January. Since we were not home much during this time, I had not run the dishwasher. Just washed up by hand. Seems that not only did the little varmints eat the Bird Seed they also ate my old dishwasher hoses. So DH and I spent most of Friday, making sure that the little field mice stay outside. (I also called the pest control people, they are due on Tuesday).
Living in the country as we do, I have dealt with pest before (mostly ants), but you do not want to live with rodents. So my DH's fun time of watching the birds eat, cost us a new kitchen floor and a new dishwasher, plus whatever the exterminator charges. What a learning experience for DH.

Hi Lou,
Not a good way to end up getting a new dishwasher, but congrats anyway. Sorry those birds did the bad deed.
We live in the country too and my
Ooh - I wish my almond colored one would die. I found one with black exterior (would match the new fridge) and stainless interior on sale for way less than I imagined. I need to check it out online, but can't justify getting it as the current Maytag is doing fine. Maybe you could send some critters my way. Oh no - the cats would get 'em.

Oh my.
There are several of our friends who wonder why we don't feed birds, because we enjoy animals so much.

When I saw the hoses for the old dishwasher I almost went through the ceiling.
