What is one item you can't live without and I don't mean food or medicine?

I'm glad you mentione "ITEM" as one item that I couldn't live without is my microwave.
I really don't "WANT" to be left alone someday, whether that happens or not, he's not an item but the love of my life.
I see your point Becky, but it would have to be either #2 or #3 on my list, as the car would be important to me too.
My computer, for sure. Being able to interact with people, learning new things, creating crafts are very doable with the PC, no matter the weather or my health condition. BTW - I asked DH the question and he said he has a list - couldn't narrow it down. I suspect the PC will top his list as time goes by.
BTW - I just figured out how to watch our movies on my PC. I didn't like the video program which came with the PC, then discovered I could use Windows Media for DVDs. Much easier. Next time I'm sick I'm going to hole up in the bedroom and watch chick flicks - LOL. DH grumbles when I tie up the LR TV with girl stuff.

I didn't answer this question earlier because I just couldn't pin it down to only one thing. I still can't. I guess I'm really spoiled by progress. In the world the way it now is, I couldn't do without any of the following: electricity, telephone, refrigerator, stove/oven, in house water & toilet facilities, furnace, tv/cable, computer, car/truck, riding lawn mower, snow blower. Also, I really don't want to give up my washer, dryer, or microwave.
I have never lived anywhere that I didn't have electricity, telephone, refrigerator, or stove/oven. I do remember, as a child, we didn't have an indoor bathroom and we had to get drinking water from the pump out at the well. There was a pump in the kitchen too, but that was rainwater from a cistern in the basement. Our furnace was a coal burning one in the basement and we had to put coal in on a regular basis. I think I may have been about 6 or 7 when we got our first tv, a black & white one that only got a couple of stations. I've always been in a household that had a car, but we didn't have more than one at a time. When I was a kid, we did have a power mower, but it was an old reel type that you had to push. When we got married we had a riding one right away because we had an acre to mow. I didn't have a dryer when we were first married, other than the solar powered one outside, also called washlines. dh use to shovel under them so I could hang out in winter and the clothes froze solid. I started out with a wringer washer, and I still have it in my basement.
