you know you have read a good book when you are sorry to finish it..


that's how I felt yesterday when I finished "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society"


I think it was the wacky name that first caught my attention!


It takes place in post WW2 Great Britain...a writer corresponds with people from the island of Guernsey who were under German occupation during the war...the whole book is their letters back and forth...


the writer goes to Guernsey and meets them and relationships develop


clever, tender, smart book

well..good luck with that list...LOL


they do mention some other dishes in the book, some were positively awful because they were out of most foods!

I will write that one down. Sounds very interesting and unusual. I was in Germany when I was 8. Hitler was in office. I came home to the USA just in time. I was visiting Grandparents. Thanks-- martha

dd and I were in Germany in 2007, visiting friends, it was lovely


they have worked long and hard to counteract that negative time (Hitler)!
