So tired

24 hours with an 8yr old genius is mighty tiring. This DGrD is in 2nd grade and doing accelerated work. I do believe she has an idetic brain - even she says she has a "mind like a steel trap, everything goes in, never leaves" (probably something her parents said). Hard to surprise a kid with some obscure fact, but she usually has heard it already - LOL. We watched an old movie (Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines) after supper on Fri., then at 8 PM she said she was ready to get in bed for an hour of reading. She's into page 500 of the latest Harry Potter book, owns them all. At 9 PM, she came out to say goodnight and asked me to tuck her in. She did decide to sleep with me in our big bed. No problem except she has a big bed to herself at home, so spent all night in the middle pushing me with her feet. Plus, she went to sleep on my side of the bed and I just couldn't sleep right on DHs side. What creatures of habit we are.
Today we made shortbread cookies in heart shape. This is a great dough that allows kids to play in it like Play Dough. Some craft projects, then she wanted to play on her handheld computer game. I was grateful for the rest. We tried to go to the movie Hotel for Dogs and found lines at the multiplex all the way out the door. I gave up and we headed for her home. She immediately started telling me that this was the premier weekend for a movie that was advertised on the Super Bowl. Nothing gets past the kid.
By the time I drove the 40 mi round trip, I was done for the day. There was no way I'd cook, the kitchen still had cookie making stuff all over. So, our romantic 51st Valentine Day together was take-out roast beef sandwiches and a shake watching Cops on TV - LOL. I'm just biding some time until DH is ready to turn in. My side of the bed is going to feel so good...
