DH's new/refurbished laptop did not come equipped with wireless feature. We bought an accessory with a handheld "sniffer" that shows if a wi-fi is available in whatever location your are. Then it is plugged into an antenna that connects to the laptop. Today was the first test run at local library. We always assume something will go awry and we'll need to ask one of the hotshot young users at the library. Nope. Didn't need to. It worked perfectly! DH sent email to friends, everything worked same as home. Now we can take it with us when we travel. As the kids say - SWEET.

I'd be in big trouble if I had to learn the new "text" language - LOL. I had no need to spend $$ for a laptop. Sitting at my big desk, with big LCD monitor and mini-keyboard suits me just fine. When DH found it for $300, he decided to use it as a business expense. He will be able to answer customers questions while away, but nothing that couldn't wait - that's his excuse for buying a new toy. Without wireless router in the house, it's not much interest to me. If I were laid up and in the rocker, DH would need to run a wire to the laptop so in order get online. I suspect he'll get a router eventually, but no rush now.
