What a day

I'm here, and boy, I have just about had it.  This computer just wouldn't get into the board, and yesterday I think I posted twice and then it froze up on me.  This is DH's first day "up" after 4 days in bed burning with fever, and another day trying to feel good=5 days of being sick.  This morning is his first time up and we went over to get our blood drawn for upcoming dr. visits.  Well, he is a piece of cake and they never have a problem with him.  My tests--don't laugh--first I was going for 2 dr. visits so had two slips, and one had the same test as the other one for one thing, and she can't draw for the same thing twice on the same visit, so that involved a lot of calling on her part.  Finally, got the o'kay from one dr. in Boston but had to get permission from the other dr. that he could fax the results into Boston dr.  What a mess.

I finally got the blood draw, of course lipid panel so we couldn't eat and neither one of us had eaten for about 4 days to begin with and last night we each had a piece of toast for supper, I just couldn't eat knowing that he wasn't feeling good, and it snowed on top of all that and when he didn't do the normal driveway (on his 3rd day of high fever) snowplowing and run over to our neighbors (2 of them) they came over and did ours and knew that something was wrong.  Got a telephone call from each of them and the widow sent her son over, and our Asian neighbor came over with his snowplow and they did a wonderful job.  Of course, by then I just want to sit down and cry.

Back to blood draw, I have very thin, small, movable veins, and they always have to use a baby butterfly on me.  Well, she couldn't even find the vein to begin with, tried the hand which they look real great for veins but a flubotomist just can't get it--I always have to have a surgical nurse for the hands--and she finally put a block of heat on my arm to bring the vein up.  Now has this ever happened to anybody before?  She got the vein finally--7 vials, and I've been dizzy ever since.  I watched patient after patient after patient come in and get their blood drawn and they are out of there.  By the time I finished with the Peptide test, I could hardly do that either, and got out of there don't think I wasn't sick to my stomach because I was.  And came home and could have filled the Peptide vial here at the house because I was like an open faucet running.  Ggggggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrr---

I can't go on, I have to get my head on straight and DH wants to look at why this computer is locking up.  That has been the main reason why I'm not here more often. So, wishing everybody a good day, and hope this doesn't get lost in the meantime.  Hugs to all, prayers for all that need them--and hope that everybody is having a better day than how mine has started out.

And by the way, I have heard from Doreen, and she is alright as far as the fires go.  They are 550 miles from her, but she is battling not feeling well and the tablets that were prescribed were doing more damage than good, so she quit those and is trying to get along the best she can.  So that will probably explain a little as to why she isn't at the board.  I guess it's time for me to quit--I just am not in the right frame of mind to continue with a "happy" post--

Everybody, have a good day, hugs.

and also my 2-cents :-) I hope you and your DH are feeling better--what a rough time!!!
Just wanted to suggest to you that you check with your doctors to see about drinking lots of water before a blood draw--even though it is a fasting draw. My dr. said that the vein problem is usually due to being dehydrated. They had to use the heat on me the last time too and that did help. I did drink water, but it takes an hour or so for it to be absorbed -- I should have waited longer to have the blood drawn. I hope this works for you so next time it will be an easier experience for you. Of course, being worried about DH didn't help either. Hugs to both of you!!

Oh,Bea...When I hear you complaining,I know you've really had a rotten time. Can't imagine how you stand all that poking around. I have tough skin, but prominent veins, so the techs love me. DH goes through what you do. Did you and DH both have a virus? Or was it a setback from some earlier cold?

Thank goodness you have such dear neighbors. Ours would only notice if an ambulance was in the driveway.

Thanks for checking in so we no whassup.

hugs,
Jacquie

Hi Carol, and thanks for good input about the water drinking, but this is something that I have known about for the past 50 years or since my first pregnancy as I've always had problems.

Gosh Lottie, it's been so long since I have really responded on the board because of those kind of problems, but today seems to be doing alright, and I will try to get through this original post that I put up on the 5th.
