Well, tomorrow is St Paddy's Day! I have made 4 Irish soda breads...one went to ds and dil, another 1/2 went to dd, another went to my former colleagues...a condition of my retirement we call it ! LOL I have to bring them one each St Paddy's day!

Another is in the oven now!We had some yesterday with corned beef and cabbage...just a tradition!

Remembering the days my dad marched in the NYC parade playing the bagpipes!

Tomorrow Bob is taking me to an Irish restaurant...about an hour from here

Spring is making an effort here! temps in the 50's ....significant melting of snow....just a few mounds left...snow under the tress, etc

we have been doing some subbing, 2-3 days a week..I also now have 2 students to tutor...a boy Mon and a girl thurs..both good students who are very motivated to do really well!

Last week I started one of my "Spanish for Educators" courses..it will run for 5 wednesdays,4-6

I turned down a job with the Census bureau..would be too much

dd has passed the comp exam for her Master's degree, so all she needs to do is finish the course she is taking now and she gets her MS...big party later this spring!!

dgd,4, is now reading! so she can read to us..she also likes to draw so grandma has been giving her some lessons....

she is helping me plan my 60th birthday party....picking a theme(last year it was dinosaurs!)....first she suggested Princesses, then ladybugs...just got off the phone with her...I asked her what she thought of adding butterflies to the ladybugs...that met with enthusiatic approval!!

so we have been busy and productive

have a good day all!

hugs

Does your bread recipe contain a lot of sugar? I found 1 recipe in an old cookbook and it looked more like a cake. I did by some and we had it as French toast on Sunday. DH remarked that it was like what he had in New Orleans.

my recipe has only 1/3 cup of sugar

also caraway seeds..so it is not like a cake

would you like it?

Hi Dutch!! I think your DGD and my DGD would get along very well -- so cute that yours wants to help plan your party!
Have a fun time tonight at the Irish restaurant!
Today is my DS's birthday--he is my baby and he is turning 37!!! Which is really surprising since i am only 39 LOL
