Good evening ladies.
I finally decided that my working in the yard for 2 days was no excuse for me not to drop in. I am tired and my back hurts, but the yard and my flower garden looks great. Worth all the aches and pains "I think" :-)
Thank goodness the past 2 days have been very nice. My perennials are peeping up already too and happy about the nice weather too.
Have a good evening and I am sending each of you a HAPPY SMILE!

Hugs and Smiles

Hi Becky, I haven't seen you since your trip to DisneyWorld, so hope all went well and that you had a great time and a great anniversary.
I was raised in apartments in Chicago's Lincoln Park area, so I spent a lot of time at the flower gardens, grew up dreaming of little house and a little yard. I got both! Love that it gives me a reason to be outside as much as possible. I planted snap peas and salad greens, but nothing is up yet. Wonder if the squirrels and birds ate all the seeds. Oh well, I have extras. My perennials are pretty much garden staples, peonies, hydrangeas, sedum, hosta, plus flowering shrubs. The peonies were put in last year, so I'm nervous about whether they survived the hard Winter. I put a lot of leaf mulch over them. Now I'm debating what to put in the few big annual planters I have. The hit last year was a climbing plant that I trained on the lattice panels by the front door. If I find them on sale, I'll buy it again. Not cheap, but it sure is spectacular.

I saved marigold seeds that DH really liked last year and will start them in early April, when we return from New Orleans. I will plant them as an edging on the veggie bed - supposed to repel critters. My hanging planters in back yard are in the shade and perfect for ferns - a no brainer, because that area is called my New Orleans garden. The other planters usually hold a few
I'm kept putting off trimming the dead plants, always uncomfortable with my slightly arthritic hands. Then the light bulb went off! DH bought a rechargeable grass trimmer and it has a long attachment like a hedge trimmer. I used it last year for the cleanup and totally forgot it was hanging in the hall waiting for Spring. I just sat on my garden rocker and trimmed away. It ran for about 45 minutes on a charge, so I broke the work down into segments. Here's the info - worth the $, especially if on sale
