My Xray showed mild degeneration of disks in lumbar (middle) back, plus the scoliosis curve. MD's conclusion is that back pain is more from muscles (as they try to hold back straight). As he told me, pain in one part can trigger pain in the other. He offered PT, but I've done that before. To be honest, I need to do it regularly, not just when something hurts. Plan for back is to continue with anti-inflammatory and pain-killer RX.
My labs were very good. Besides ruling out any bone marrow problem, my 3 mo blood sugar was 6.3, the cholesterol is now 76 - it had been 110 (under 100 is preferable). So I will continue on meds I now take. They're pretty cheap and easy to take, so I actually remember them.
So, now I need to get off my butt, grab a high protein breakfast and break a sweat.

Jacquie:
I am very glad to hear that your back problem is not major.
My strengthening exercises are done w/o video because I know them by heart. Luckily, I also have my hobby room with a door that closes so DH can't make comments. He has this really irritating habit of making fun of the people on the screen - wierd movements, jumping around. Makes me wonder why grown men think it's cute to look like a 5 yr old!!
So glad your MD listened to you about where your pain was coming from. When I went into see mine, I knew he had been leaning towards a diagnosis of fibromyalgia in the past. So, I made sure to tell several times that I slept through the night just fine. As good sleep is not a characteristic of fibro, he then went back to structural issues with my back.
BTW - I've tried a supplement of magnesium. I remembered that Doan's backache pills helped in the past and looked up the ingredients, then researched them. It turns out the main ingredient is a type of magnesium, which acts on the muscle fibers to smooth and soothe them. So, I bought a bottle of Slo-Mag and am amazed that the back muscles ache so much less. Way better than masking the pain with codeine. BUT - when we go to New Orleans next week, I'm taking every pill I have - just in case.
