to be here!! LOL....I am now 60!
Thanks to those who posted birthday wishes..I was delayed in responding because all day Friday I was involved party prep and party, then we went away for the weekend.
Dgd,4, (almost 5!) came up with the theme:Ladybugs and butterflies
The cake lady did an awesome job on the cake and it was delish! I got 10 butterfly helium ballons from the dollar store, ladybug favors and chocolates
I had my kids, dgks, a few friends and a cousin from CT..it was perfect..and ,of course, dh!
We had great weather: sunny , 60's (by contrast today is 32, windy, snowy!!)
My dd gave me something I had longed for: a Playmobil dollhouse!! the dgds were thrilled too, the older one said "grandma likes toys!"
someone asked recently how I felt about turning 60, I asked "what are my choices?" LOL I am happy with what is. Some people don't make it to 60, like my mom, 58 only
I enjoy the dgks, my kids, I subbed today and had a great day..the kids, former students, colleagues
and I have this wonderful place here to go..with you lovely gals!
hugs

My stock answer for that question? I tell them I feel the same as I did at 50, but everything takes m-u-c-h longer to do - LOL.
Great cake. I can't remember the last time I had a birthday cake. We were so broke in early years, that we only celebrated the boys birthdays, so it never was ingrained in them that MOTHER had a birthday. Actually, as long as my DM called me and sang "the" song, I was happy. The birthday after she died was really rough - kept waiting for the phone to ring. After that, I decided to take the day off from work and do whatever appealed to me on my special day.

I love the doll house gift. Can I come and play???
60 was the only birthday I dreaded but I survived thanks to the active, youthful, and fun loving ladies here. This year I go on Medicare and it really doesn't bother me.
LOL..good response!
and good solution to your birthday dilema
we have to adjust to those changes in our lives over time...not always easy
although I did what I did
Dutch
sure, come on over and play dollhouse! LOL
Playmobil has become a "thing" with my dgds...the older one just loves it, so many detailed pieces...for awhile we had to do it only when she was here because the pieces were too small for the younger dgd...then a few months ago I said I thought she was old enough..when I came down form the attic with the box of Playmobil dgd,2, hugged me around my legs and said "thank you, grandma"
her mom said it was like I gave her a promotion!!
turning 60 can be sobering..it is a big number! this is the first time I have been this old! LOL..but you are right, beats the alternative...and we have much to be grateful for
(thanks for the BIG font..lol)
