Hello, everyone! :) I just found your board and thought I'd introduce myself. :P I'm Gypsy, I'm 62. I had heart surgery in mid March. My dog, Mika, is my "exercise guru," and we are rebuilding our walk mileage each day. I'm married. DH & I will be celebrating our 33rd Anniversary this Friday. :) He is taking a vacation day and we are going to see a car museum, go out to a movie and dinner. We have a grown DD who just turned 28.

Blessings,

Gypsy

Hi, Cal! ;) Thanks for the welcome! DH & I had a great day on Friday. Went to IHOP for brunch, then toured a car museum with beautiful restored cars from vintage early 1900s to the 80s & 90s. Later we tried out a new restaurant called the Elephant Bar. Exotic décor that put me in mind of Humphrey Bogart & the movie "Casablanca." ;) I toasted him with my mai tai, and he toasted me with his margarita. :D Yummy food, too!

Thank you for the welcome, "Camano!" ;)) My DH is still working. I lost too much of my hearing about 5 years ago or so, and could no longer answer telephones as an administrative assistant/secretary, so my working life was basically over. :-\ I keep busy with training and walking Mika dog, being online, etc. :P These past 9 months I have been with Weight Watchers and lost 90 lbs. since last July when I joined. I had no idea I was getting healthy for heart surgery this past March, but my surgeon said I'm way ahead of his other patients because I did! :)

Hi, Lottie! ;) I love having a dog. Can't imagine life without a "fur friend." :P I think it's awesome you both had a veterinary clinic. What wonderful and needed work to do! :) I look forward to when it will be time for DH to retire. I love spending days with him. ;) Unfortunately we can't afford for him to retire yet. :-\ Fortunately his job continues in this horrible recession. And our medical coverage.

Thanks for the welcome, "Daggs." ;) Thank you for the anniversary wishes, too. :) DH & I had a good time, as I already posted. :) Thanks to Weight Watchers and Mika dog's and my walks everyday, my recovery has been pretty speedy. I had 3 heart vessels replaced and an aneurysm patch after removal of dead heart muscle. My heart was only working at 30%, but Mika & I were walking 4 miles/day many days, and walking every day, before surgery. It was accidental I found out about my heart -- I flunked an EKG for a minor surgery and they invvestigated by doing a cardiac catheterization, and they scheduled the surgery for a week later. Scariest event I've ever faced and I feel very fortunate all went well. :)

Sorry to be so late in welcoming you. Been busy with minor flooding in the basement, toilet seal that needed replacing and stains on a load of clothes from lipstick I left in a pocket. Just had time to give a quick look at post subjects to be sure everyone was okay. All is under control now. Only problem is a pulled back muscle from trying to help DH lift the toilet. He's almost 70 and thinks he's 18 - insists on doing everything with a "little" help from me. Our 2 DSs live within 20 minutes of us, but DH refuses to ask for assistance until he really falls apart. I have news for DH - that's the last time he cons me into a little help - LOL.

I live in mid-IL, where we are in late Spring. Late lilacs are blooming, peonies will be out by Memorial Day. Retired last year at 68 and am enjoying it thoroughly. Extended family is close enough that it is an event to visit, but not so close that we are in each other's hair.

YIKES! :O You've had some challenges to deal with! I hope that's all over now and your back is feeling better, too! What *IS IT* about men and just "toughing it out" and hurting themselves sometimes seems to be their best option?! ACK! (eyeroll) Thanks for the welcome. :)
