painful IV site

This may not be the right place to ask this, but I had a baby 3.5 weeks ago and had an IV in my wrist. Now the IV site is sore, somewhat warm to the touch and has a lump under the skin. I can feel where the vein is. It seems to be getting worse as the day goes on..
Any ideas what this is?
thanks in advance.

Greetings and Welcome dixiendallas,

Congratulations on your new baby!

Usually soreness, a bump or bruise and lump at an injection site is where a bit of blood leaked under your skin.

I've had bruises for a month or more but yours is also warm to the touch, I suggest you waste little time in

I hope your feeling better now, and congrats on the birth of your child. Apparantly, tenderness and lumps in the IV site aren't uncommon, and should die down within a few weeks without intervention. I have one on my wrist and inner elbow that is very sore and itchy, but my doc assures me all's well.
