Yeast Infection

For the past 4 months I have gotten a yeast infection right around the time of my period. I have been taking acidophilus daily for 2 months. I have been to the doctor to confirm that it is yeast. I have been tested for diabetes and am not on BC pills. My doctor has prescribed OTC creams each time. (for some reason she isn't fond of diflucan.) She doesn't seem to have any answers for me. What is wrong with me?

Greetings and Welcome londi2001,

Have you been cutting back on your sugar intake-including soda?

I would call the doctor and ask for a prescription-tell her the OTC's are not working and it keeps reoccurring.

If she still won't give you a prescription ask why not and

I am at small military base in the middle of no where and changing physicians is easier said than done. My physician is older and states that diflucan is a "quick fix". Back when she was in medical school there were 14 day creams and in her opinion they should have never taken them off the market..... go figure.

Anyway, thinking about it now I must admit that I do tend to eat more sweets around these times. I will cut back. Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

My doctor says it is normal to have yeast infections right before your period.
