Hi everyone,
I have been lurking around to see which board could help me figure out what's going on with me so, I am very happy that I found this one. Back in August I went to the doctor because I noticed that the discharge that was coming from my vagina had looked abnormal to me. She told me that I had a yeast infection so she gave me a prescription for Difulcan. I took it and I was fine until about a month later. One day when I was having sex with my boyfriend I noticed that not to long after he pulled away from me that I became very itchy. I kind of blew it off in thinking that maybe since it was a different brand of condom that he was using that I had an allergic reaction to it, so I just washed off and left it at that. As weeks went by I noticed that I was still itching and also noticed the abnormal discharge again. I thought that maybe I had another yeast infection so I went to the drug store and brought some Monistat 1-day.
One week later I tried having sex with my boyfriend again. This time it was very painful so I asked him to stop. As soon as he pulled away from me I noticed that there was blood on the condom. This freaked me out. I called the doctor the next day to set up an appointment. When I went there she said that it didn't look like a yeast infection but, it was very red and alot of discharge so she said that she was going to do a culture on it but, in the mean time she prescribed the Diflucan again (just in case) and also metronidazole vaginal gel.
My thing is that I am very concerned that she nor I know exactly what's going on here. I noticed that when I changed soaps that I no longer itch, so I was thinking that maybe I had an allergic reaction to the soap or like I said earlier maybe the new brand of condoms.
I have been online putting in my symptoms on these websites like webmd.com etc. and there are alot of things that they on there that are freaking me out. I guess I just need some reassurance that everything is going to be alright and that I am worrying about something that could be minor. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
P.S.
I'm sorry that this is so long, I just had to get this off of my mind.

I'm glad you came to iVillage and wish you had come before you had gotten 'freaked out'.
Well,
I got my results from the culture that was taken on me and everything was normal. It felt like a weight has been lifted off of my shoulders. Thank you for replying to my post.
