NOT a swollen gland after all! ;)

I wanted to thank you for the comments to the post about my myriad of health issues I submitted a few days ago. As it turns out, it's not a swollen gland (boy am I NOT a doctor!). I have a tonsil that needs removing. (I wonder if they'll take both. Is it scary? I just read it generally requires a night in the hospital- why?)

I went to a new Dr today (I live in Paris currently & finally found a Dr who could speak better English than I speak French) and this one was just lovely. She gave me a medicine (used often for kids) for constipation. She is having me take some blood tests to find out about my thyroid & a few other things (can't read her handwriting)... I feel for the first time in a while that I spoke to someone more than willing to address ALL my ailments. Normally they just deal with the one issue at hand & don't worry about the rest. Had I mentioned I'm also prone to UTI's? Well- she's addressing that too.

Headaches- she seems to think the Thyroid might be connected, but since I have TMJ, (Where's the room for the "How To Be Sure You're Not a Hypocondriac" class??) she agreed that was a likely cause. And for the third time now- the chance of chicken pox being the bane of my existence is unlikely, but she's going to try to figure out if it did, at all, in any way, even a TINY bit; affect my immune system. (I'm NOT a hypocondriac, by the way. I just have the body of an 80 yr old. And gosh-darnit I weigh more than I'd hoped too! I'm now 163, but WANT to be 150ish... @ 6'0"/35 yrs old. Weight really does get harder to keep off after 30, huh? Like we ladies don't have enough to worry about!)

However. I may have a light at the end of my back pain. Thanks again for the encouragement & suggestions- I will look into them all!

Big ol' American hugs! (I miss those!)

I am so glad to hear that it sounds like you have a good doc. One that is going to help you. I hope that you will let me know what happens. Take care, Laura
