Nipple pain

Hello, I just found your board and I have a question. I have pain on one of my nipples. It doesn't hurt unless I touch it just right, and the pain is slight. There are no marks or bumps and it has hurt for a few months now. What could be causing this?
Thanks for any ideas you can give me.
Lisa

Greetings and Welcome Lisa,
Is there any chance you are pregnant, have you started or stopped BC, did you breast feed, have you mentioned this to your doctor or GYN?
Nipple pain is usually hormonal.
I use Nuvaring for birth control, but I've used it for over a year now. However, now that I think about it, my bras all got too small at about the same time I first noticed the nipple pain. I had to buy all new bras one cup size bigger, but I attributed that to the hormones in my birth control (I had used non-hormonal birth control up until about 1 1/2 years ago.)
The pain feels like it is on the outside, rather than the inside, but there is no mark or irritation that I can see. And like I said, it only hurts when I touch it (like when I rub across that certain spot in the shower.)
Thanks for your response.
Lisa
