Hi,
I haven't posted on this board before and don't know if this is the place to ask this question but after looking at the board options, this came the closest and hope someone can advise.
On Wednesday night (really Thursday early morning) when I was turning onto my stomach in bed, I woke up and the entire room was spinning fiercely. I quickly turned around on my back and closed my eyes so I wouldn't see the room spinning and then when I opened them again while still spinning it was at a lessor degree. I was going to get up but then it came back again much harder so I didn't get up afterall because I knew that if I did I would fall. When it was time to get up for work I was feeling better and went. At work the same thing happened but I was then also having double vision and I was very nauseous. I walked to the ladies room very slowly, with one hand on the walls and I didn't get sick so I went back to my office. I was told that when you get really dizzy to put your head between your legs and I did that but it was a big mistake because it was 10 times worse. I called out to a co-worker and she tried to help me up but like jello, I hit the floor. The paramedics were called and they took me to the hospital and I was given meclizine. I was diagnosed with Benign Vertigo but even after I asked I wasn't told what may have caused it. I was given a cat scan and an EKG but both were normal and my ears were fine. For added info, I'm 43 5'2" and weigh 117. I am concerned that I may have to take this medication always? I was dizzy last night so I took it again but I am petrified that I could get a spell while driving. Any ideas on what causes this? Thanks for any help you can provide. Lucy
