Period Forever

Fri, 03-24-2006 - 3:54pm
My clinician changed my birth control pills two months ago because I had been my periods were starting earlier than they should have been and lasted at least two weeks. My first month with the new pills (I had been on this kind several years ago and was switched to the others when my original clinic stopped carrying these.) I didn't have a problem, eveything was normal. I started my second pack and got my period again a week and a half later, and it hasn't stopped. I finished the rest of that pack and am a week into the third. The clinic here is only open two days a week and it's days when I work so I can't even get a phone call to them. Is there anything I can do besides wait? I'm starting to go crazy.

I called my clinic this morning. It took my two hours and phone calls to two other clinics in the area to get anyone to even answer the phone. They can't see me because they are too busy and the doctor is supposed to call me back before she leaves at 1 o'clock... which is in fifteen minutes. They are only open two days a week and the only reason I could even call this morning is because my class was cancelled. I am starting to freak out. I have no idea what to do and I have nowhere else to go. This is going to go on forever.

I know it is hard but try to relax, getting upset is just going to make it worse and may cause you to start cramping and hurting as well.

I am soooo glad I found your posting because I have been having the same problem. I started taking birth control because I had very heavy periods with intense cramping, so my doctor had me take the pill and skip the placebos so that I could skip my periods and the cramping. This worked the first month, but when it was time to skip the second time I started my period and I am now on something like the 25th day, it is just the same as it was before the pill with intense cramping. If you find out any information on what could be going on please please let me know. I know exactly how you feel, and i am getting desperate.

The doctor did call back. Though she seems to think that it's alright if I bleed to death. She said that I need to wait it out and, next time I come in, if I'm still having a problem then she'll see if she wants to change my pills. So I guess I'm just supposed to sit around and wait. That hasn't been working thus far so I'm not sure how much good it's going to do. The next time I come in? The next time I come in isn't supposed to be for another month. If I have to wait another month with this, I am going to lose my mind. And so is my boyfriend.
