Do you have a central place where you keep records about DR visits, meds, tests, etc? Do you get copies of lab reports? Do you have a calendar or something where you note med changes, illness, symptoms, etc?

If you do, do you make sure your PCP has copies of all that info?

Or do you figure if you need to know, someone somewhere has a record of it?

All lab reports, x-rays, diagnostic tests, etc, are the property of the patient here in France. So, yes, I have my records, but since I am not organised, they are just sort of "here". On the other hand, my family doctor and gynecologist automatically get a copy of any lab result, and they both keep records. My family doctor is wonderfully organised, and during an office visit, inputs all information into her computer as it pertains to the patient -- weight, problem, whatever medication and or test is prescribed, etc.

I have a file somewhere that I established of ALL the treatments I underwent for endometriosis. Thank goodness, that is behind me now since I am past menopause, but there were times when I needed that record. Also since I am done, I am very healthy compared to what my health was like before, and am not taking any prescribed medications anymore, so that is not a problem to keep track of.

Prospero:

Our revels now are ended. These our actors,

As I foretold you, were all spirits, and

Are melted into air, into thin air:

And like the baseless fabric of this vision,

The cloud-capp'd tow'rs, the gorgeous palaces,

The solemn temples, the great globe itself,

Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve,

And, like this insubstantial pageant faded,

Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff

As dreams are made on; and our little life

Is rounded with a sleep.

Do you have a central place where you keep records about DR visits, meds, tests, etc? My husband and I each keep our own records about doctor visits, medications and lab tests.

Do you get copies of lab reports? Yes, we get and keep copies of lab reports.

Do you have a calendar or something where you note med changes, illness, symptoms, etc? We normally do this in a spreadsheet on the computer, which we can print out and take to the doctor.

If you do, do you make sure your PCP has copies of all that info? Yes, and the specialists and surgeons we have seen are very good about communicating with the PCP as well.

I have a big binder that has family records, receipts, vaccine records, etc and I keep in on a file on computer too, but sometimes it is easier to just get the binder. I always have records sent to my PCP and my pdoc, and my images are all on disk. I sort of tote around relevant info to new docs. I pretty much have to write things down to remember, so it helps. If i actually hold it and read it, and file it.
