Do you like cilantro?

  • Yes, I love it!!!
  • Now that I think about it, I do like it
  • It's okay occasionally
  • I only like it in certain dishes (tell us which!)
  • I don't really like it, but I can tolerate it
  • No, I don't like it
  • I *hate* cilantro!!!

I can't say that I am absolutely head-over-heels in love with it but I do like it a lot ;-)

Cilantro, the leaves and stems of the coriander plant, is a most controversial and divisive herb. Read more in this Wall Street Journal article.

Personally, I don't like cilantro, but I wouldn't go so far as to say I hate it. I'm pretty close to that point, though, lol.

Normally I'm not too extreme in my food likes and dislikes, but I'd go so far as to say I "hate" cilantro. I've tried to eat it, but it's too strong for me, and I can tell when a dish has as little as a leaf or two! lol

I used to hate it and would pick it out of everything; now I love it.

I only really like it in salsa.

That was a very interesting article I had no idea there was such a dislike.

My spice cabinet isn't complete with large supplies of cilantro, tarragon and dill weed.

You know, Poppy, I'm going to keep asking these questions until I find something you don't like, lol!

My daughter is exactly the same way. She is very sensitive to cilantro, and her dislike of it is much greater than my own.

I'd like to point you to the ihatecilantro.com web site, but it has closed down, at least temporarily. I understand there are a number of cilantro-hating groups on Facebook, though, if you're in the mood to commiserate with like-minded folks.

That's funny! I read something about a woman who had been an administrator of one of the anti-cilantro groups on the Internet, but had to resign because she started liking the stuff! I wonder what causes such a change in taste...it's certainly something to ponder.

Maybe it's just that all the other stuff in salsa covers up the soapy flavor, lol. It sounds like you have the "anti-cilantro gene" if you perceive a soapy flavor!
