Hi

Anyone here have opinions on the best Diaper rash creams? My daughter constantly has them, they come and go. I went to a health food/ herbal product store, and they gave me this stuff that swears it'll clear it right up, but it seems to only make it worse. There's a lot out there, I know, but I need something that will keep working.

Thanks!

Hi!

Thought I'd come out of lurker status!

The best ointment I found is Calmoseptine. The only place I found it was at the KMart pharmacy and I had to ask for it. It's over-the-counter but they don't keep it on the shelf. You might find it elsewhere...I don't know. I never tried anywhere else. My son used to get diarrhea and it would burn his little bottom. This is the only stuff that would clear it up. HTH.

I've always had good luck with Penaten. It's also good for dry skin, and mild excema and sun burns, never tried it on that before.

DS is two and has never had a rash. Any time his bottom got a little red I used Penaten cream. Can you get that in the U.S? It's awesome!

My mother told me to use zinc oxide(I think that what its called) she swears by it as does my MIL, my best friend, and my SIL(friend and SIL have infants). I have yet ot try it b/c I have no need to . But I'm pretty sure it'll work.

Hi - just a lurker here. My dd and ds are both allergic to disposable diapers - if I put them in some they get diaper rash in seconds flat. Destin creamy is what we use to keep it under control. The stuff works great! I also don't uses wipes when they have diaper rash. I use the cottenelle (sp?) toilet paper with aloe - you know the stuff that is So soft you can't wipe your own behind with it. I just use warm h20 to get it wet. I also keep wash clothes near by and pat their behinds dry after I'm done wiping. If the rash is really bad and causes them "teary eyed" discomfort - I put a blow dryer on med. heat, med. power and fan their lil' tooshies for about 2 minutes (I'd love to do it for a full 5 minutes, but who expects a 2 year old to stay still). My 2 month old son DOES like the blow dryer treatment, but the sound scares him a little. I found that by doing all these things is a really quick way to keep the rash under control. Usually after day one - they're only slightly pink.

p.s. Destin has zink oxide in it :)

I use Desitin whenever Amanda starts to get a rash and it clears up right away. I am also careful to change her diapers more frequently if a rash is coming on. Also, we only use wipes for poopie times and it seems to keep the irritation away.

I'm not sure if we have that stuff here or not, I will have to ask. Thanks!

Thank's for your help ladies! I appreciate it. My Mom swears by A&D ointment, but it doesn't seem to do the trick. Unfortunately where I work, all my friends are younger than me, and the only one with a baby is 20 and her son is 6 months old, she would be turning to me for advice, if needed.

Anyway, I love these forums, I have been having fun here!

Brightest Blessings

Another option is Resinol. I just called ds's ped this week asking for help, because his bottom was so raw the skin was broken. I had been using both A&D and Lotrimin -- plus Neosporin once the skin broke -- to no avail. The nurse recommended Resinol, and I began to see improvement that same day. It's OTC, but most pharmacists keep it behind the counter, so you have to ask for it.
