Okay,I don't want to start a debate on breast feeding versus formula. This is my situation:My hubby and I have been planning a trip to the mountains for our 2 year anniversary (thats where we went on our honeymoon). We will be hiking etc...and can't take the baby.My mom is going to keep him for us.She is great with the baby, and we totally trust her to take care of him for the time we are gone. Now my problem is I am planning to wean our son,who has been breastfed up till now, because I don't want to deal with pumping milk and such while we are gone.He will be 7 months old by the time we are going on our trip. There are other reasons that I would like to wean as well, such as not having to wear a bra to bed every night etc...I want to be sure to start him on the best formula possible.Which formula do you think is best?Have any of you breastfed until 6 or 7 months and then switched to formula?I'm worried that he might get really constipated from the Iron in the formula.Any tips on how to make this transition smooth, would be appreciated! My friend stopped breastfeeding at 6 months and used the Nestle/Carnation Good Start and never had any problems. My DS on the other hand would have nothing to do with a bottle of any sort at 6 months- not even with breastmilk- and he has never taken a bottle. Has your DS accepted a bottle? My only advice would be to make sure he will take a bottle before you make any more plans. They sure can throw you for a loop!
