DS is 11 weeks old and fights his sleep. His is in there right now sitting in his daddys lap screaming at the top of his lungs. He gets so wild, stiffens up, hits himself in the head with his fist, rubs his eyes. We have tried everything to calm him. We rock, swing, cuddle, swaddle, jiggle, sway, bounce, change positions you name it. DH and I are pretty calm people but we have made it a point to get him use to sleeping around noise. He can sleep through just about anything. He has no problem going to sleep in a noisy resturant. He doesn't do it every time he goes to sleep. Is it normal for him to be doing this? He use to only do it at night but now he is doing it during the day too. Is this just a stage that he will get out of or will he continue to fight it like this?

Hey Jennifer

My dd is 8 months old.

When she was that age, she went through that fase as well. She really liked the swing. We bought a baby swing/convertable high chair.... it worked very well for her. We also bumped up her food in take. If memory serves me correctly, they tend to go through a pretty signifigant growth spurt around 12 weeks. That may be it. Try it out, or call your nurse or dorctor...let us know, and good luck!!!!!

I agree that it could be a growth spurt. My DS had one at 4 weeks and ate every 20 minutes- I thought he would explode! He gained a pound that week. Some babies just hate sleep. My DS was like that. I remember days when he was 2 months old that he would get up at 6 a.m and stay up till 6 p.m. then he'd take a nap and be up half the night. He will be two next month and still doesn't like sleep- i think it's just his personality. He goes to bed at 8:30 and is up again AT 10:30. I just chuck him in the bed with me because I am so tired (after 2 years with little sleep) and he sleeps okay with me. He just isn't one of those kids who has ever fallen asleep in the highchair or stroller. It gets better though. Amber- I would defintely see his dr.- maybe he/she can help.

I never imagined a growth spurt could do that. EEEEKKKKSS! He has just in the last 2 weeks started eating more during the day. He's already got thunder thighs. LOL

One thing I am extatic about is he has been sleeping thru the night its just getting him to sleep that is the problem. Thanks for the post.

oh maybe he's going through the growth spurt. he was born 7lbs 1oz he is now 2 months later 14lbs 4oz the dr. says thats okay as long as he's not losing weight. so maybe he is going through his growing spurt. does this sound right to anyone?
