for a family vacation. We are thinking about taking a trip to get away from the cold and I was wondering if anyone knows of a great place. I don't want to go to Florida/Disney because DS is only two so we want to wait on that. I've been to Florida a bunch of times so i'd like to go somewhere different. We got married in the Bahamas but it was at a no-kids resort. Has anyone gone anywhere with small kids that they really enjoyed? It has to be something great because I am terrified to fly!

hey Jill

We have three "Six Flags" theme parks here in Texas, and they open spring break next month. They have a "Looney Tunes Land" for little kids with lots of cute rides and family shows. I would go to the one in San Antonio so you could also go to Sea World and maybe the Alamo. The River Walk is really nice too.

Just a thought...

Shelby,

We visited Atlantis for a day on our trip. Wasn't it just awesome? I will definitely be going back someday. The beach was so beautiful. It was the cleanest beach i've ever seen and the water was so nice.J

A few years ago we went to Sea Mist Resort in Myrtle Beach, SC. My kids had a blast! The hotel is right on the beach and when you stay at the hotel it includes full access to their on-site (heated) water park, another water park that is with in walking distance, and an amusement park that is also with in walking distance. They also have a miniture golf course that is on site. They have added some things and the rooms are all newly renovated since I have been there so it could only be better! Check out their web site and see for yourself ;)

I have the same fear...we always drive everywhere! lol

Good Luck with planning it all (wherever you go), wish I could get away too!

I suggest Hawaii. That is where we plan on taking our first family vacation. It is very kid-friendly. Obviously, you won't be going there for the theme parks. The beaches are clean, and the weather is perfect. It will be fun for you and your husband as well. My husband has never been, so he's very excited about our future trip.

Jill,

The best family vacation I had was to Chincotegue and Assoteague Islands off of Virginia. It's where the horses run free on the island. Very laid back and relaxed atmosphere. Nice beaches, very family oriented.

a cruise seems like a very family friendly vacation. my husband and i went on a carribean cruise last year before our baby was born. there were children of all ages (including babies), meals were included, and no unpacking or moving from hotel to hotel. the activites provided were wonderful for every member of our family. i would definitely look into another cruise for our family, grandparents and children included.
