Anyone have "Mommy Syndrome"

I saw an article about moms who have so called "mommy syndrome." Its where even though their child is sleeping the parent normally the mother can't sleep because she is worried that she won't hear the baby cry or something will happen while they sleep. Well anyway after all that rambling, I think I may have that. Haylei has been in bed for about 2 hours, and she sleeps through the night pretty well she wakes up around 2:30 or 3:00 am for a feeding and she'll sleep till 8:30. But I cannot sleep more than 2 hours w/o waking up atleast once. Someone PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me! DH even gets up with her sometimes so I can rest but I still can't sleep. Oh by the way I do breastfeed her and I pump too so DH can help feed her.

TIA,

Shelby

I think I had that for the first 8 months of DS's life. He use to be fed every three hours but I couldn't sleep in between even though I was SO tired. I read somewhere that it is the cortisol (stress hormone) that is increased in a mom after birth. I guess for survival instincts (da#* biology!). I think it probably affected me more because of my personality. Are you more hyper/ always doing something/ mind always going? That is what I am like o I have to force myself to relax. At the beginning I felt like if I relaxed the whole world would fall apart. Anyway, all I can tell you is to try to relax. I have an excellent sound therpy machine by Conair that was only $20 CDN that plays like 12 relaxing sounds.
