When did your kids start to crawl?
My dd is almost 9 months, and she is no where near even atempting to do it. She has always hated being on her stomach. She will roll from tummy to back (just to get off her tummy) but never rolls back to tummy. We have taken her to the dr, thinking she may have pain in the tummy when she is on it, but everything is fine. She otherwise is healthy. She has 6 teeth, sits on her own well, and if is propped up against something like a table that she can hold on to, she stands. Is it normal for a baby to skip crawling and go straight to walking, or is there something I should look into??? Could there be a problem that I am not aware of, or my dr is overlooking?
I don't want to sound like a paraniod freak, but EVERYONEseems to think she should be crawling and rolling all the way over by now. What do you think???
TIA
Lesley

hth,
clarity
btw, developmental delays (not saying she has one at all, just giving you the info!) are very very common and somewhat normal, and as long as they are purely physical are not a huge cause for concern. they almost always go away on their own and are not indicative of iq or anything. my best friends son was the floppiest most uncoordinated sack of potatoes you could ever imagine, couldn't hold his head up until 5 months, didn't sit alone until 8, didn't crawl until a year or walk until 18 months, but now at two he is smart as a whip and more coordinated than i am, lol. he told me the other day, "well, actually clare, i'm not a baby anymore!" i was laughing my butt off at him-"well ACTUALLY" just sounds strange out of a two year olds mouth! he just needed some time and encouragement to catch up. he's much more coordinated now than any of our other kids were at that age, kid can do chin ups! but he was a fat little baby, and like i said, i think the weight slowed him down, lol.
so try not to worry :)
She will only roll from tummy to her back. She will do anything not to be on her tummy. She never even attempts to roll the whole way around. My dr doesn't seem to be worried, but, well, you know how it is being a mom!!! There is a reason to worry about everything!
She isn't a fat baby, she is actually quite slim, and very long. So I don't think she is too chubby to make it all the way over, she kind of lazy thought!!!
