I was watching baby story and one of the mothers on there was named Hadley, I fell in love with the name. I looked it up in the baby name database and it can be used as either boy or girl.

What do you all think of the name..

TIA

I love it for a girl. I'm not sure about a boy.

I also like it for a girl, but not for a boy. If you are looking for something like Hadley for a boy maybe Hayden.

I don't care for it at all. Unisex names make it hard for me to know what gender a child is when I hear it...I don't know, I'm old fashioned. I think boys names for boys, girls names for girls...unisex names just don't do it for me.

Hi Jessica

I agree with you... I don't care for unisex names either.

I unfortunatly have one. Lesley. Yes there are 2 different spellings, Lesley (female, usually) and Leslie (male usually)...but not always.

I can't count how many telemarketer calls I get that ask for "Mr Lesley....) I also think that if there is room for confusion in a "gender based name" or whatever one may call it, that the kid will probably be teased in school, Lord knows, school is hard enough these days without adding extra pressure!!!! Granted, every kid (almost) at some point gets made fun of I'm sure for one reason or another. I just don't know if I would want to open my girl baby up to those problems with a name that could be inturperated as a boy name, and vice versa. Maybe it's just my old fashioned opinion, but it's my 2 cents!!! By the way, I have a niece named Hallie, and a brother named Hayden. Both names are pretty close to Hadley, but you know what the gender is!!!

Also, I gave my dd a "traditional" female name, and still got flak for using it. her name is Isabella, we call her Belle, or Bella for short. So I guess in the long run, you have to go with what your gut tells you!!!!

Lesley (female!!!!!!)

Actually, the name Hayden can go either way as well - I know an woman named Hayden. So you don't always know the gender with that name either.

As far as Hadley goes, I think it's a pretty name (but I've only known girls with that name, no boys). However, the first Hadley that I ever knew was a girl who went to college with me who was a complete junkie and pothead. So I have a few negative associations with the name LOL. Other than that, I like it.

Thanks so much, I feel better about it being for a girl..

One of my brother's middle name is Hadley. My father says he saw it on a moving truck out the window of the waiting room while my mom was delivering and he liked it. We never knew it was a real name, just thought there was a "hadley moving Co." in Illinois. LOL

I love it! My grandmother's maiden name was Hadley. My husband didn't care for it for a child, so we named our dog Hadley. She's a girl! I think I heard it used on amovie a long time ago, female there too!
