Going from FTWM mom to SAHM

Hi. I am new here on the iVillage boards. Good time to start though....lots of changes for me and my family in the next couple of months. I have worked full-time since the birth of my ds, who turned 5 on Jan. 13th of this year. As of June, I will become a full-time stay at home mom...very different from the corporate world I am in from 8:15-4:45 5 days a week. I am very much looking forward to my new position, although I do have a little bit of anxiety about it. The reason I am becoming a SAHM now is that my ds, who has been in daycare since he was 6 months old, will be finishing 4K in June, we are relocating this summer, and my dh and I also want to TTC this fall. Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

#1. Remember that when it comes between your house or your kids.....your kids come first. A messy home is a happy home. LOL
#2 ALWAYS MAKE TIME FOR YOU!!!!! No matter what! Don't get into a rut where you are always around the kids and hubbby. You need time for yourself to relax. Even if it just 30 min alone in the tub with bubbles, a good book and lovely smelling candles (if you like that kind of stuff).
Enjoy your kids and enjoy the time with them. All my best wishes!

It's a big change - I was a WOHMFT for 3 years, now I SAH. I love it!! I love having NO schedule, I love just playing with my girls and staying in my PJ's until noon. I love letting the kids stay up late, knowing they can sleep in in the AM. Just remember to take time for YOU and make friends with other SHAM - MOPS, church or something. You will love it!
