Homeschool?

Do any of you mommies homeschool? My stepson is only 3, but recently I tried to get him into a pre-k program so he would have some social interaction, and learn at the same time. Well, his BM wouldnt help us pay and its a considerable amount of $$ - so, I was thinking that if I cant send him to school, maybe I would try a homeschooling program. I feel like its better than nothing. In a way, I am furious at her (BM) because I was kind of looking forward to having some alone time with my 7 month old daughter, should I feel guilty of that? How do I explain that to DH? Should we bite the bullet and pay for the school ourselves ( $120 A WEEK~!) or should I look into homeschooling? What do you think?

Homeschooling is great,if that is what you want to do,but since he is your stepson, and you say you want more time with your daughter maybe it wouldn't work for you.I am seriously thinking of homeschooling our son when he is old enough(he is only 6 months old right now).My mom homeschooled me and my sister using the ABecka program. If I decide not to homeschool him myself,my Mom will do it for me.

First of all, there is nothing wrong at all about wanting more time with the new baby. Those thoughts are not a function of the fact that he is a step son but just because you have a new baby. Most mothers want some alone time with a new baby even when they have 3 other bio-kids.

If it were me, I would spend the money. However, that seems a little much for pre-school. Is there a place that is good but a little less expensive? Have you checked the YMCA or JCC or other organizations in your area? You should be able to find a cheaper one or one that is for less days (therefor cheaper).

At this age it is less a function of "homeschooling", but more of a social issue. All parents teach their kids at this age.

Hi, I have 5 children ages 12,9,5,3 and 1. I am pg with #6 EDD 9/30.. I homeschool my children. I just started my 5yo. this year and ofcourse my 3yo wants to join which I let her. My 1 yo. thinks she is doing things as well, it doesnt hurt to include the younger ones no matter the age.

I would never go back to public school, I love homeschooling for many reasons, the list is so long. I also use a special curriculum. My kids grades have increased tremedously. My oldest went from D's to A honor roll also he has a LD and has dislexia which is a challange. But for me to see his progess and not someone else is an amazement for me.

HS, is not for everyone, you have to really be devoted to it and want to do it... I personally love it and would do it no other way.

For more info. and support groups email me and I will give them to you...

Good luck

Cyndi #6 EDD 9/30
